This week you can win the 2 disk Dunstan Baby Language DVD set. If you are pregnant or have a newborn, you WANT this! If you know some one who is pregnant or has a newborn you want to GIVE them this set!
The Dunstan Baby Language DVD set (as seen on Oprah) teaches you to hear exactly what your baby is communicating. As a parent, you are able to interpret your infant’s sounds and cries – and respond to their needs.
Every newborn communicates from birth to 3 months using 5 distinct sounds, or “words” to express their physical needs. This is regardless of the language their parents speak and is part of nature’s plan – that your baby can tell you what they need from the very beginning.
For example, every baby will say the word “neh” when hungry. The sooner ‘hunger’ is identified the sooner a parent can respond by feeding. Click here to see this language in action!
The system will teach you that your baby’s first communications occur before crying develops. The sooner you recognize the sounds and their meaning the quicker needs will be met. Your baby will become more relaxed, confident and happy – and so will you.
To win (there are two easy steps):
1) Please rate our video by double clicking on the YouTube video screen above (or by clicking here) and then clicking on the star number you want to rate our video (there is an option of up to five stars) in the lower left hand corner.
2) Please post a comment on our blog by clicking on the "comments" link and suggesting a creative way to choose our winner now or in the future. If you want to get an idea of what we have done in the past, click here. I am worried I can't be creative forever and want your help! (If we use your suggestion in the future we will try to credit you). That is it, how easy is that?! Please note: I use your comment as a way to track who enters our contest and a way to contact you as the winner so if you don't leave a comment, I don't have your info to enter you. I would also LOVE for you to share this giveaway with your friends but that is just extra credit this week;). Good luck!
This week's contest ends Thur the 30th at 10AM PST.

Here's an idea: wrap each name around a crayon and ask Hunter to pick one.
Posted by: Kristina B | August 24, 2007 at 06:34 AM
I've got one - you could bob for apples. (I know that might be a lot of apples.)
Posted by: jenna | August 24, 2007 at 07:37 AM
the bobbing for apples is a great idea! I'll come back when I can think of something!
Posted by: Amanda | August 24, 2007 at 07:53 AM
How about putting each name in a balloon and having Hunter pop one to see who the winner is.
Although, balloons are choking hazards and I am not sure the ages of your kids.
I'll give you another idea instead. Freeze the names inside of ice cubes and see which one melts first. I'm not sure how you would be able to read the name after as the water might have washed the ink away. Maybe designate one small object for each person and use that in the ice cube.

As fall is approaching and apple season is coming why not "bob for apples"!! Have numbers carved in them that corrispond to a persons name!!
Getting excited for a new season to hit!
Posted by: Selina Hoit | August 24, 2007 at 08:49 AM
opps - I didn't read that bobbing for apples was already there!! I thought I was being so creative - oh well. All of us who visit this site must be on the same wave lengths!
Posted by: Selina Hoit | August 24, 2007 at 08:51 AM
Hmmm...an new idea?! How about having a treasure hunt for Hunter of some sort and the last or first or 6th (or whatever) clue (you could put them in plastic easter eggs or something :) ) Hunter finds is the winner!
Posted by: Andrea | August 24, 2007 at 10:36 AM
I like the balloon idea... as long as you don't have 100 people playing.. lol. Maybe you could put all the names in ONE balloon....and then pop it from somewhere up high and have one of the kids catch a name as it falls.... thats your winner! Robyn

Ooh, I am so curious about the Dunstan system.
I love how you choose winners, it's really fun. You could try rolling a crazy multi-sided die like they use for Dungeons & Dragons. I saw a bunch of them at a school supply store and forgot to ask how they used them in the classroom...
Posted by: naomi | August 24, 2007 at 12:41 PM
New here and not sure of what you have done already...maybe someting like ping pong balls with name/assigned #, all thrown up at once with a plastic drinking cup below. The one in the cup or the one on the bottom if a few end up in it...
Posted by: Tara C. | August 24, 2007 at 06:07 PM
I was trying to think of some board or games you could use as a way to pick the winner .. what about Memory and assigning each picture to an entry. The first match Hunter makes is the winner.

Hi -
Here is my suggestion for a contest: Have a race --- there are many ways you could do this
1) make paper airplanes w/ the contestants names on them - have Hunter fly them and the one that goes the furthest wins.
2) make paper boats w/ the contestants names on them. Put a fan on themor have Hunter blow on them to go across a "pool" of water - the first one to the other side wins.
3) same idea only use friends, each given a piece of paper w/ the contestants name on it - first one across the finish line wins
4) ways to make #3 more fun and exciting - potato sack races, wheelbarrow races
Hope these ideas help.

These are some great ideas!
I feel so uncreative after reading them all. I'll keep thinking. I'm sure I'll come up with something.
Posted by: Patti | August 24, 2007 at 08:31 PM
LOL, it is hard isn’t it Patty? Now you know why I asked for help. My ideas are going to run dry pretty soon and I didn’t want the giveaways to end because of that LOL. I hope you come back!
Posted by: Heather from Mom 4 Life | August 24, 2007 at 08:57 PM
Thank you so much for your ideas everyone! I like them:). Keep 'em coming! I think you might just have better odds this week, not as many people are entering! I didn't mean to make it to hard LOL!

Maybe you could enlist your hubby to decide the winner by throwing darts at a dart board in which you have put the contestants names on. First dart to hit a name wins.
OR.... burst balloons with darks. Put name in a balloon, attach to a board, and burst with darts.
OR... for the little ones... not sure of their ages... play pin the tail on the donkey BUT there's a twist.... the donkey is divided up into sections (like your drop the rock game was on the cardboard) and whomever's name the donkey's tail is pinned onto is the winner. I never could pin that tail where it needed to be. lol
I postd a blurb on my blog too:

My brain is a bit drowsy right now, so I'll have to think about this one! You've done such fun things in the past! And I'll link up to this contest on my contest page soon!

Hi, I rated your video. I really don't have "creative" ideas. You can use this to choose winners though: http://www.randomizer.org/form.htm
: )
Posted by: Lesha | August 25, 2007 at 03:25 PM
LOL That is actually really funny how you pronounced my name! My husband was listening on the phone and laughed, too.
I'm so glad Sarah won, she's my best friend!
Posted by: Qtpies7 | August 25, 2007 at 04:52 PM
Hi, love your creative videos! I rated it! They're so much fun and I love seeing the outtakes! :)I was thinking about the balloon idea also--and yes as long as you don't have a ton of people entering I think it's a cool idea! :) You can pop the balloon or Hunter and he draws the name!
Posted by: Doreen | August 25, 2007 at 06:11 PM
hmmm... maybe an essay contest? LOL
Or you could have entrants write a product review again, but this time have them post it on their blog. :)
Thanks!

I want to enter contest for Dunstan baby DVD. A couple of ideas to pick a winner are..bobbing for names(bobbing for apples)... put names on the bottom of stuffed animals and let child choose a stuffed animal...play hot potatoe or musical chairs with the name.
hope you like my ideas. Candice
Posted by: Candice | August 25, 2007 at 08:53 PM
Oops, apparently I was the only one to not get that you were supposed to put the comment HERE and not on YouTube. So anyway, how about assigning each person a letter (guess this assumes there would only be 26 people) and then tuning in to Sesame Street to see what the 'letter of the day' is? Or, same concept, with the number of the day.
Posted by: Siri Heinrichs | August 26, 2007 at 07:13 AM
A variation on Boce ball - Have Hunter toss ping pong balls with numbers or names written on them at a central object (ie; a ping pong ball painted red). Whichever ball gets the closest to the red ball is the winner.
Variation on musical chairs - Make a "track" out of butcher paper with names written all around. Have Hunter go around the track while you are playing music and stop when you shut off the music. Whoever's name he is standing on is the winner.
BTW - I love your creative ways of picking winners. It always makes it interesting to come to your site and see who won each week!
Posted by: Lisa | August 26, 2007 at 02:51 PM
Howdy! You are hilarious, I love the out takes. OK, hmmmmm to similar to this one, but oh well. Take the amount of sock balls as there are contestants and put a basket the opposite side of the room, and however many you make in the basket, choose the person, in the order the comments were recieved. Oh lord, that's bad.....sorry!
Posted by: kelli | August 27, 2007 at 01:33 PM
Draw 4 names out of the contestants. Take 4 paper/plastic cups and put one person's name on the bottom of each. Have Hunter pass a bouncy ball from cup to cup while singing the ABC's. The cup the ball is in when he finishes the song is the winner. This might not makes sense. Sorry... I'm sure you'll get lots of great ideas!
Posted by: Lana | August 27, 2007 at 01:44 PM
You could assign each person who enters a contest a random, unique number and then take a walk around your neighborhood with your kids and they can cross out the numbers as they see them appear in different addresses. The winner is whomever has the remaining number that has not been eliminated. I know, kinda lame, but I'm on limited sleep here so it's the best I can do right now....
Posted by: drew | August 27, 2007 at 03:51 PM
Take that family bowling, average all of your scores and the number is the winner...that's assuming you are as poor at the sport as I am!
Posted by: Jessica | August 27, 2007 at 07:46 PM
I love this! The creativity is so great! I think these videos look great, and I would love to have them! Hmmm...creative...
I think it would be great to play, "pin the tail on the name." Just put everyone's names on a pice of paper, blind fold Hunter and have him "pin" someone!
I love how creative you get...it is so fun to see what you come up with to pick the winner!
Posted by: Sarah | August 28, 2007 at 10:51 AM
ok, here is another idea...I think someone already had the pin the tail idea...it really is hard not to "flow" with the other ideas...:)
Make a bouquet of suckers with names written on the sticks...then have hunter pick a "flower"/sucker.
Posted by: Sarah | August 28, 2007 at 10:54 AM
What about writing the name of each entrant onto a piece of paper in the shape of a leaf and then affixing each piece - name side facing in - onto a small post so you create your own mini contest tree? You could then have Hunter pick a leaf and there's your winner.
Posted by: Liz | August 28, 2007 at 05:16 PM
I'm not feeling too creative tonight, but let me think if I can offer at least some idea for you. Maybe you could write all the names on papers and stick them to a ceiling fan and then turn it on. Whoevers name falls off first is the winner! Of course, I am not sure what you do if a bunch fall off at once or if they all refuse to fall.
Posted by: Donna | August 28, 2007 at 07:07 PM
By the way...I just tried viewing your video, but was having trouble getting my computer to play it. So...I wasn't able to rate it but hope I can still be part of the contest.
Posted by: Donna | August 28, 2007 at 07:11 PM
Hmmmm... How about name tag bowling? Make name tags out of little pieces of paper folded in half (like a little tent, standing on it's skinny side). Face the names away from you. See which one is last man standing after bowling with a beach ball or a family rubber band shooting match...
Or, make home made fortune cookies with the names inside: http://www.recipezaar.com/110768
Or, take a paper lunch bag and cut a 2 inch in diameter hole in the bottom. Fill with small slips of paper with names written on it. Scrunch the large original opening of the bag around the nozzle of a hair dryer and turn everything upside down (so hole is on top) Turn the dryer on cool setting and blow until a little paper escapes through the hole on top.
Haha, this is too fun.

Hide the names around the house and see which name Hunter finds first!
Posted by: Tamara | August 29, 2007 at 03:17 PM
Hey Heather,
Have an easter egg hunt and the name that the kids find first is the winner :)
Court
Posted by: Courtney | August 29, 2007 at 03:26 PM
You could write each name on a leaf throw them up into the air and which ever one is caught first would be the winner.
Posted by: Anna | August 29, 2007 at 05:34 PM
What about a mini scavenger hunt for Hunter with the top 5 names? Or 5 names could be wrapped up and he could open 1 as the winner. I'll keep thinking. I hope I haven't duplicated anyone's response as I don't have time to read them all.
Posted by: Caryn | August 29, 2007 at 09:23 PM
Put names inside the petals of roses and let your son pick a flower and the name inside the flower is the winner. I guess this one would work better if there wasn't as many entries. This one is hard. Lots of good ideas already though.
Posted by: Emily | August 29, 2007 at 11:09 PM
You guys are so good! I love all the ideas, this should keep me going for a while:). Keep it up, only a few hours left and then. . . the video of this weeks pick. I worked so hard this week for the set-up to our "set", hope you love it!
Posted by: Heather from Mom 4 Life | August 30, 2007 at 12:11 AM
Wow! What great ideas! I don't know how you are going to pick from these... my idea on how to choose the winner is to pick something unique about the item you are giving away that week. Then instruct us (your adoring fans) to find this unique thing on the mom4life website or the manufacturer's website. Or you could specifically plant something on the website for somebody to find, then the first to find it and post a comment would win. This would encourage people to check out the product they are trying to win!

There are so many great ideas! You could choose 4 or so finalists and put their name (or a number) on a popsicle stick. Then make homemade popsicles making sure the part with the name or number is covered by the popsicle. Have Hunter choose his first and after everyone has enjoyed the treat, see what number he has and that's the winner.
Posted by: Tracy | August 30, 2007 at 06:14 AM
You could place names on a small piece of paper attached to a paper clip. Tie a string with a magnet on to a stick and then go fishing. Maybe put all the names behind a curtian or sheet, so that they can't be seen.
Posted by: Bethany | August 30, 2007 at 07:44 AM
I'm not feeling all that creative this morning, but maybe there is an art project or a puzzle that is put together by Hunter and the puzzle reveals the winner? i don't know. enjoying it
Posted by: dandi | August 30, 2007 at 08:34 AM
Something similar to bowling. Find something that can act like pins (e.g. The toilet paper cardboard roll?) with the names on it and a ball. Then roll the ball. Whoever gets knocked down first is the winner. If there are more than 1 knocked down, take those that are knocked down and roll the ball again until only 1 is knocked down.
Posted by: Marilyn C. | August 30, 2007 at 12:23 PM
Hmmm...I didn't read all the comments. But I could tell there were some creative ones up there!
How about...choose someone who's name ends in "manda". :)
Posted by: oh amanda | August 30, 2007 at 05:52 PM
I love your website. I wouldn't change anything. It is very creative and unique. I like the fact that the product line is made up of things designed by moms for moms. Only moms know. I think a Q&A video blog would be great. I don't have a current question but there are many times that I need answers or someone elses opinion. I would love it. Your website has become my favorite and most visited. Even when I am not in need of anything, I still like to read the blogs and see new product. Thank You!!
